The 3 ware controllers are excellent but a bit expensive. In the low cost a= rea=20 there is a something like a DC-100 (HPT372 Chipset) which I can recommend,= =20 since HighPoint offers drivers for FreeBSD (haven't tested 5.2.1, only 4.10= ). Never touch a sil0680, atarid support for thet controller (like for the=20 HPT372) is completely broken in -current and never really worked before (yo= u=20 can use your disks but in case of a faulure you can't rebuild the array). The only cards which work flawlessly with the internal ataraid driver are t= he=20 promise cars, I'd go for a FastTrak TX2 100 if mone plays the biggest role. This all applies to pATA, I've never tried any sATA! =2DHarry (the one who recently had very painful experiences with cheap RAID controll= er=20 cards!) --Boundary-02=_s7f7A58NYUiGy3j Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Description: signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQBA7f7sBylq0S4AzzwRAms7AJ464WlKhVicqxbrHo5K7iF/Z9w4DgCeJjs5 phTTg+bgN9xI4NGyZVB6ka0= =cvsJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Boundary-02=_s7f7A58NYUiGy3j--
