Originally encountered problems on a machine that has a 1.4 Ghz AMD Duron processor.  When I attempted to run installation on a machine with a 4.0 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 processor the sysinstall progrram started up.  So apparently the problem lies with the AMD Duron processor.
