You have had some good advice. Move your configuration file aside. They generally cause trouble other than short files to add fonts or to specify non-default options. Second, as suggested, remove any xf86-video-intel driver and let the system= use the modesetting driver. My older generation Intel graphics worked much bett= er and was faster with modesetting. Finally, don't try running X as root! This has been considered a security problem for many years. It may be better these days, but I would still not = ever do this, especially when I see the xauth error. there was another bug about this issue about a month ago, but I don't recall the resolution.
