https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D250523 Bug ID: 250523 Summary: Increasing or decreasing system volume control does nothing in Gnome-3.38 Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: Any URL: https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/configuring-hdmi-au dio-to-work-well-in-gnome-3-38-volume-control-not-work ing-how-can-we-enable-auto-switching-speaker-and-headp hone.77391/ OS: Any Status: New Keywords: regression Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: mailto1979@rediffmail.com Created attachment 218967 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=3D218967&action= =3Dedit System volume slider does not work, except muting at lowest level I have recently upgraded Gnome to 3.38 on a FreeBSD-12.1 system. I am using= a DH67CL Intel mainboard with i3-2120 processor and using HDMI output for sou= nd.=20 The sound slider on the upper right corner does nothing if I increase or decrease. However, If I slide it down, the sound mutes. I checked that my device is a Intel Cougar Point HDMI output and it has a 'Vol' and 'PCM' as controls listed in mixertui. If I adjust 'PCM', I can increase or decrease sound volume. So, I believe Gnome's volume control is mapped to 'Vol'. So, = in order to get sound volume control to work, mapping system sound in Gnome to 'PCM' is needed.=20 I had also tried adding HDMI device details to /boot/device.hints and it did not work. Please help to make the sound volume control in Gnome-3.38 work. = Let me know, if any other details needed.=20 :~% cat /dev/sndstat Installed devices: pcm0: <Realtek ALC892 (Rear Analog 5.1/2.0)> (play/rec) default pcm1: <Realtek ALC892 (Front Analog)> (play/rec) pcm2: <Realtek ALC892 (Rear Digital)> (play) pcm3: <Realtek ALC892 (Rear Digital)> (play) pcm4: <Intel Cougar Point (HDMI/DP 8ch)> (play) dmesg: pcm4: <Intel Cougar Point (HDMI/DP 8ch)> at nid 7 on hdaa1 pcm4: Playback: pcm4: Stream cap: 0x00000005 AC3 PCM pcm4: PCM cap: 0x001e07f0 16 20 24 32 bits, 32 44 48 88 96 176 192 = KHz pcm4: DAC: 4 pcm4: pcm4: nid=3D7 [pin: Digital-out (Jack)] pcm4: + <- nid=3D4 [audio output] [src: pcm] pcm4: pcm4: Master Volume (OSS: vol): 0/0dB pcm4: +- ctl 3 (nid 7 in ): mute pcm4: pcm4: PCM Volume (OSS: pcm): 0/0dB pcm4: +- ctl 3 (nid 7 in ): mute :~% pciconf -vl hdac0@pci0:0:27:0: class=3D0x040300 card=3D0x20038086 chip=3D0x1c208086 = rev=3D0x05 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Aud= io Controller' class =3D multimedia subclass =3D HDA --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
