Well, it may solve the problem for Netscape 4.03 on a PowerMac
but it disables the mouseover effect of changing gifs... The gifs
no longer change color. See

I'm not a javascript expert by any means, and I appreciate your help.
Only one other person has mentioned this problem .... so far. I'm
still looking for a work around.
