They fail under > Microsoft. AFAIK, that only works if the image uses the "Rock-Ridge extensions". Microsoft operating systems have supported "shortcuts" for many years now, but they still can't do anything useful with the RR extensions of CD-ROM disks they mount (i.e. convert the symlinks to "fake shortcuts" or something equally useful for the end user).
