Ok, I got KDE 3.4, k3b and Kadu installed. I had to install them by via
the ports, because there is no packages.

I can't reproduce this problem. What did you do with menu? Did you tweak
something or? Can you try to create a 'dummy' account and login to see if
you still have the same problem?

I can reproduce this and Kadu isn't alone that cause go all over and
create the multi-cateogory. I have fixed it, in gnome-menus 2.10.1 has
fixed few annoy and limited bugs. Now, it's much more flexible than before
that allow me to fix them better. The KDE menu is much nicer now with my
fixes.

Althought, it's a bug in gnome-menus and I will report in bugzilla. For
example, when you have a .desktop in ${X11BASE}/share/gnome/app/ and it
will creating one correct menu in Applications's cateogory and one not
correct create a new cateogory in the 'Desktop' like your second
screenshot (gnomemenus2.png). I had to disable all LegacyDirs stuff in the
settings.menu to fix it.

As for double menu by two .desktop, I only have fixed it half. For
example: If two same .desktop, one go in ${LOCALBASE}/share/applnk/ (KDE)
and another one go in ${X11BASE}/share/gnome/apps/ (GNOME); the result
will be display in seperate menu by one is in KDE and one is in GNOME. If
one go in ${LOCALBASE}/share/applications/ and another one in
${X11BASE}/share/gnome/applications/; the result will display two same
entry in a cateogory. This isn't a bug, but just FreeBSDism's fault.

I have committed a bump version for gnome-menus, so go ahead update and
let me know the results. Here is my screenshot of KDE menu included with
the fixed gnome-menus.

The author of Menu Editor said that py-xdg lacks support few stuff, so I
guess we will have to wait for py-xdg to add some features and fix bugs.
It happens to the Linux world too when Ubuntu has their own 'Debian'
cateogory same as with our 'KDE' cateogory that caused the messy in Menu
Editor.

This is really strange for disappeared bug.. I seem to not able reproduce
this problem, even I reboot the machine.
