Howdy,

I am currently running 4.1-stable.  I have noticed on a occasion that
when my machine boots I get this error message for the CD-ROM:

ata1-master: <HA\^D\^A\^C@@ \^P/0000> Unknown device - NO DRIVER!

When it does work it looks like this:

acd0: DVD-ROM <HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-2500> at ata1-master using PIO

The ata0-master gives me an error like so:

ata0-master: DMA limited to UDMA33, non-ATA66 compliant cable
ad0: 12982MB <Maxtor 91360U4> [26377/16/63] at ata0-master using
UDMA33

But I don't get an ata1-master message except for these two:

acd0: DVD-ROM <HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-2500> at ata1-master using PIO4
afd0: 120MB <LS-120 F200 08 UHD Floppy> [963/8/32] at ata1-slave using
PIO2

My kernel has the following:

device          ata0    at isa? port IO_WD1 irq 14
device          ata1    at isa? port IO_WD2 irq 15
device          ata

I removed the ata0 and ata1 and things still seemed to work (sometimes
the cd-rom would work, sometimes not).

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Is the non-ata66 compliant cable the issue?
