As a side note, the perl script at:
http://www.free2air.org/?op=displaystory;sid=2001/4/13/1419/40470
uses:
wicontrol -i wi0 -p 1
to "reset the SSID". You might want to try doing the following, to see
if it changes anything:
wicontrol -i wi0 -n linksys
wicontrol -i wi0 -p 1
