Nahhhhhh ..... I need to figure a nice simple straightforward way to co-locate some FreeBSD systems running webservers / mailservers & limit the bandwidth. The server has 2 x 32 port Cyclades cards, so serial ports are plentiful & limited to 38400bps, so anything connected this way won't be able to hog the internet connection like an ethernet connected one would. I don't have the time in the forseeable future to mess around with bandwidth shaping applications. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathy Quinlan" <katinka@magestower.com> To: "Doug Young" <dougy@bryden.apana.org.au>; <freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG> Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2001 10:36 PM Subject: Re: null modem . serial port networking > you trying to run a system like concurrent DOS ??? > > I know QNX can do it, that was their main selling point lol > > It can be done, I remember seeing a net site about it with freebsd needed a > kernel hack though and a small program the guy wrote, but did not provide > slip or ppp, just the ability to use the serial terminals / dumb pc's as > terminals for apps off the server :o) > > Kat. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Doug Young <dougy@bryden.apana.org.au> > To: <freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG> > Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2001 8:22 PM > Subject: null modem . serial port networking > > > > Where can I find a simply worded HOWTO for configuring machines > > to communicate via serial ports ??.
