for the record, sitecopy author == neon author, and he doesn't feel
compelled to maintain backwards compatability in his API since neon is
not yet at 1.0.  i agree that life would be considerably easier if it
did, but that's not the way things are at the moment, so we get to
jump through some hoops to make sure the various packages that use
neon will work with the latest version.  i'm sure that the author
would be more than willing to accept patches to sitecopy updating it
to the latest version of neon.
