With X running-plugged in a working PS/2 scroll mouse- hit the CTL-ALT-BKSP to restart X. The mouse worked fine. Unplugged working PS/2 scroll mouse-plugged in PS/2 optic mouse-hit the CTL-ALT-BKSP and now optic mouse works fine. hmmmmm.
