It it well-known that many ports forgo un-bundling dependencies, particular=
ly
those that are excruciatingly complex, bundle custom/tailored/patched
dependency versions, or naturally vendor those dependencies for specific
reasons where the ports versions are unsuitable or incompatible.

@everyone If there are any remaining concerns or decisions to be made, plea=
se
make those explicit such that we can request feedback from any necessary
folks/teams as well

@Reporter (Olivier) Could you please provide an update on the 'readiness' of
the latest attachment, in particular with respect to, and confirming:

 - Latest upstream version
 - QA (poudriere) across all supported FreeBSD versions and tier-1 architec=
ture
 - GCC remaining as build requirement (and why)
