Here is a simple hierarchy that I've created:

barry@gate$ ls -R
a/ b/

./a:
abcdefghijklmnop

./b:
abcdefghijklmnop

barry@gate$ mkisofs -r -v a b
mkisofs 1.12.1 (i386-unknown-freebsd4.0)
Scanning a
Scanning b
Using ABCDE000.;1 for /abcdefghijklmnop (abcdefghijklmnop)
mkisofs: Error: b/abcdefghijklmnop and a/abcdefghijklmnop have the same Rock
Ridge name
mkisofs: Unable to sort directory

Shouldn't mkisofs give each of the files a uniq ISO9660 name?

barry
