There has been much discussion about in on the -current and -commit mailing lists, you might want to check the archives. There are currently two reasonable working, but still not perfect solutions. See http://www.freebsd.org/~cracauer/ for two diffs and testsuite/ for some background material. Another issue is that problems in our `make` require /bin/sh to behave wrong (to terminate on SIGINT even if foreground processes run), otherwise you'll end up with hard-to-kill recursive makes.
