Both good choices, but also don't forget exim (http://www.exim.org/).  Easier
to configure and customise than Qmail, and in use in some very large ISPs
that I know of (it contains many optimisations for high-volume usage).  It
takes a different approach to the security problem than Qmail - it can
probably be argued that Qmail is still a better choice for installations
where security is absolutely paramount.

I suspect many people will switch to vmailer when it emerges from beta, on
the strength of the author's reputation alone.
