I knew someone was going to ask that :( It has to deal with the way vat in full duplex relies on the card for its timing information so currently, I have the sound card setup for 20ms buffers . I will have to play a little bit more with vat to find the optimal buffering parameters for the sound driver it is a little tricky because I want to maintain the 20ms timing information from the card. > Did you get any good info from the manufacturer of the chip in the GUS > which does the gain adjust? > > This was not a big thing with the old GUS except that with the local > mic audio routed internally through to the line outs and the mic gain > running wide-open all the time it made for lots of feedback. Right now , I just use the gain to adjust the volume and that seems to be okay. AMD has not been of much help and I will try again this week. > > The other serious outstanding issue is that playing midi files can > > crash a system and I am trying to analyze a core dump over here. > > Once, I get over this last crash I will release a new gus pnp driver. > > Great, I know there are many FreeBSD users who will appreciate that. > > kim Amancio
