I knew someone was going to ask that :(

It has to deal with the way  vat in full duplex relies on the card
for its timing information so currently, I have the sound card
setup for 20ms buffers . I will have to play a little bit 
more with vat to find the optimal buffering parameters for
the sound driver it is a little tricky because I want to maintain
the 20ms timing information from the card.

Right now , I just use the gain to adjust the volume and that seems
to be okay. AMD has not been of much help and I will try again
this week.
