uncomment the proper lines in /etc/inetd.conf

#
#ftp    stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/libexec/ftpd       ftpd -l
#ftp    stream  tcp6    nowait  root    /usr/libexec/ftpd       ftpd -l
#telnet stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/libexec/telnetd    telnetd
#telnet stream  tcp6    nowait  root    /usr/libexec/telnetd    telnetd

save it, and restart inetd if it is running:   killall -HUP inetd

if it is not, start it:

=09/usr/sbin/inetd -wW

and, to make sure it will start the next time you reboot your computer,
add:

=09inetd_enable=3D"YES"

in your /etc/rc.conf
