I have a 2.4Ghz P4, 512MB ram, 32MB AGP Asus GeForce 2 GTS DDR, and a 4MB PCI Matrox Mistique. the AGP card is the primary display, the matrox is the 2nd. I have had exactly the same thing happen after upgrading Xfree86 to 4.3.0 from 4.2.0. Its really annoying the hell out of me. You can get so used to a nice dual head machine :) Does anyone have a working dual head machine with Xfree86 4.3.0 and 1 or more Matrox cards? Looking at the Xfree86 log file, the last line i see is also: ------ (II) Truncating PCI BIOS Length to 32768 ------ This happens after/while initialising the PCI Matrox card. running top, xdm seems to consume all available CPU. Paul: Please keep me updated if you find a solution. I will do the same. When i get some time, I might try swapping out the matrox card for an S3 Virge PCI and see if i get the same results. --Shaun Paul Boehmer wrote: > I have a test box that had been running X 4.2 in a multihead config for a > while now (1 Nvidia TNT2 AGP, and 2 Matrox Millennium/Mystique PCI Cards). > I upgraded yesterday to 4.3.0 only to find out that any attempts to run X > result in a complete console lockup (still have access via ssh).
