Ariff, you are the man! I've now installed today's latest binary modules, and I'm happy to report that I can listen to CDs from the VGA console too, via cdcontrol. I'm seeing hard disk activity while doing this, I guess it's doing realtime audio extraction to a HD buffer, isn't it? Also, audio works flawlessly within KDE. In both console and KDE, plugging the headphones mutes the laptop's speakers, and unplugging them restores the speakers. My 'mixer' output: Mixer vol is currently set to 75:75 Mixer pcm is currently set to 75:75 Mixer line is currently set to 75:75 Mixer mic is currently set to 0:0 Mixer cd is currently set to 75:75 Mixer rec is currently set to 0:0 Recording source: mic And my 'dmesg|grep ^pcm': pcm0: mem 0xc0000000-0xc0003fff irq 16 at device 20.2 on pci0 pcm0: pcm0: pcm0: detached pcm0: mem 0xc0000000-0xc0003fff irq 16 at device 20.2 on pci0 pcm0: pcm0: pcm0: detached pcm0: mem 0xc0000000-0xc0003fff irq 16 at device 20.2 on pci0 pcm0: pcm0: Let me know if you need more testing.
