Dono if you can or will answer this, I have allready taked to four other people I know who are bsd gods compaired to me. :-) FreeBSD 4.3_install (no rc here) whoami root ls -lo / dr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel - 512 May 16 11:14 host -r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel schg 2400888 May 14 11:33 kernel -r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel schg 3352178 Apr 21 10:54 kernel.1 -r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel - 3352178 Apr 21 10:54 kernel.GENERIC -r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel - 3352178 May 14 11:12 kernel.orig drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel - 512 Apr 21 09:02 mnt drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel - 3072 May 14 11:34 modules already did the (with no errors) make config ../../config/newkern make depend make. make install chflags noschg /kernel chflags: /kernel: Operation not permitted *** Error code 1 (ignored) mv /kernel /kernel.old mv: rename /kernel to /kernel.old: Operation not permitted *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/sys/compile/newkern This is a second compile, had a scsi controller fail and put in a different one that was not in the first kernel setup. Was adaptec is now a symbios Anybody have any ideas why I can't replace the old kernel with the new one. I have tried to reboot and that don't help, do I need to boot -s ?
