Unluckily I desperatly need my serial port. Sorry this doesn't answer the question, but what's the status of using "-h" in /boot.config instead of mucking with the /etc files? Is that The Wrong Way to do it or is it equivalent? It's easier for me to remember when setting up new boxen :) Mike
