The reason for that is that it got installed in /usr/local, so the old named is still found first. You can try specifying the full path (/usr/local/sbin/named), and/or replace the one in base by setting PORT_REPLACES_BASE_BIND9 during the build, which will set PREFIX to /usr instead. Beware that if you do a buildworld the old named will return unless you set /etc/make.conf appropriately.
