Just following up on my earlier posting.

The Linux IDE floppy driver offers READ/WRITE-12 as options, but 
doesn't appear to provide a mechanism for setting the option (probably 
just my ignorance).

And indeed, there is a comment in the Linux code to the effect that 
transfers of more than 64 sectors cause some drives to lock up.

I'll look at this tonight; any clever ideas for splitting a transfer 
up, or can I just specify D_NOCLUSTERRW for d_flags in the bdevsw?
