Hi, guys. Never posted a question here before so I apologize in advance if I unwittingly violate any protocol. I'm trying to mount a Linux partition on a second IDE drive. FreeBSD 4.1-stable as of a couple weeks ago. relevant dmesg: ad1: 9541MB <WDC WD100AA> [19386/16/63] at ata0-slave using WDMA2 I do fdisk to see what the drive looks like and get: numbertenox# fdisk ad1 ******* Working on device /dev/ad1 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=1216 heads=255 sectors/track=63 (16065 blks/cyl) Figures below won't work with BIOS for partitions not in cyl 1 parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=1216 heads=255 sectors/track=63 (16065 blks/cyl) Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 2 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 3 is: sysid 130,(Linux swap or Solaris x86) start 63, size 385497 (188 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 0/ sector 1/ head 1; end: cyl 23/ sector 63/ head 254 The data for partition 4 is: sysid 131,(Linux filesystem) start 385560, size 19149480 (9350 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 24/ sector 1/ head 0; end: cyl 1023/ sector 63/ head 254 All well and good. But I try to mount it on the mountpoint /linux and get: numbertenox# mount -t ext2fs /dev/ad1s4 /linux/ ext2fs: /dev/ad1s4: Invalid argument numbertenox# mount -t ext2fs /dev/ad1s4a /linux/ ext2fs: /dev/ad1s4a: Invalid argument Nothing but invalid argument. :( Don't know what's so invalid about it. It's there, it's an ext2fs partition. Fdisk can see it, but mount can't mount it. Any ideas where I should look to troubleshoot this?
