I have found the support from the FreeBSD user community to be phenomenal. I have never been concerned about who or what. I find that the FreeBSD support infrastructure (cvsup servers, etc) to be extremely reliable (although some cvsupNN.freebsd.org servers are a bit slow for me, but that is to be expected). In 1999 I moved away from FreeBSD for about a year, installing Linux on most of my core services servers. After quite a bit of frustration in regard to Linux and its hodge-podge distributions I have been transitioning back to FreeBSD over the last couple of years. I am so much happier because of it too. The machines are easier to maintain and are very stable and reliable, more than my Linux hosts were. I suggest you subscribe to a few of the freebsd mailing lists that interest you. If you run -STABLE subscribe to that list too.
