AFAIK, it's a lib that needs to get linked into something, so perhaps you could hack the shell and add it in. are you using busybox instead of a shell and /usr/bin? that would get you some space back to share with perl..... the coolest thing would be to have a busybox lkm and an eperl,scheme or whathaveyou lkm and run it in kernel space....
