What do you mean "did"? It's still alive and kicking and outselling all other "operating systems". Brian gave one format, which is used internally. Files have a different format, which splits a 16 bit "word" into 5 bits day (0-31), 4 bits month (0-15) and 7 bits year since 1980 (1980-2107). In practice, the year is limited to 2099. Greg
