Here's the weird part, it works on my laptop:
usb0: <Intel 82371AB/EB (PIIX4) USB controller> on uhci0
usb0: USB revision 1.0

This is the machine it bombs on (also happens to be SMP box):
usb0: OHCI version 1.0, legacy support
usb0: <OPTi 82C861 (FireLink) USB controller> on ohci0
usb0: USB revision 1.0
