One or more of the 2.X I believe 2.1.5 and 2.2.5 - with adaptec scsi controllers - things would roll along just fine.. but every 1 to 3 days the drives would just corrupt into unusability - which I couldnt trace to anything - so on a hunch I didnt enable quotas on one install - and the problem stopped happening.
