The drive reads ATIP info from the disk to determine the maximum writable=20 speed (Among other useful things) Of course the media could be lying about the maximum speed it's rated for, = but=20 I haven't seen media like that. I buy Verbatim 48x spindles of 50 disks whi= ch=20 are fairly cheap but don't produce coasters. CD-RW media is slower but that's a function of the way CD-RW's are made and= =20 their smaller volume. =2D --=20 Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software - http://www.gsoft.com.au "The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from." -- Andrew Tanenbaum GPG Fingerprint - 5596 B766 97C0 0E94 4347 295E E593 DC20 7B3F CE8C =2D----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFBNG+q5ZPcIHs/zowRAgDcAJ9w+nrttfrdHDVT02CthdYUQwU3egCfahst gyZ7SDzrclqoXiOuJXEtTrg=3D =3DQb5/ =2D----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
