Brain freeze... need caffine.... I have freebsd 2.2.6 and can not get thru a microsoft proxy server (v2.0). I have come to find out that this proxy server uses socks ver 4. But their is no port for socks4 only socks5 What am I missing? or am I as dumb as "socks5 is backward compatible to socks4" >From the the ms docs <MS-PARTY-LINE> Microsoft Proxy Server can act as a SOCKS client to an upstream SOCKS server or Proxy Server can be a SOCKS server to a client computer running SOCKS software on it. Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 supports SOCKS version 4. SOCKS uses TCP and can be used for Telnet, FTP, Gopher, and the World Wide Web. The SOCKS Proxy service does not support RealAudio, streaming video, or NetShow. </MS-PARTY-LINE> one side thot... isn't netShow a ms product? whoever said that ms stuff works with ms stuff has never worked with ms stuff .... thanks Dale Dale Phillips We are Intel.
