Hi,
i am trying to set up some samba printing, but i think my problem is in
the printcap file. I do have lpd process running (shows up in ps -ax),
but i get a message saying:
>lpq -P front
Warning: no daemon present
Rank Owner Job Files Total Size
1st val 17 (standard input) 19 bytes
2nd val 18 (standard input) 6 bytes
which shows both test jobs just sitting there. Here is my printcap file:
front|front deskjet printer:\
:cm=DeskJet Print In Front:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/deskjet:\
:af=/var/spool/lpd/deskjet/acct:\
:if=/usr/bin/smbprint:\
:mx=0:\
:sh:
The samba docs say i need something like
:lp=/dev/null:\
in there, but when i put this in there i get no output, my jobs just
disappear with a messages in lpd-errs:
Dec 17 19:30:30 ns lpd[25071]: cannot execv /usr/bin/smbprint
Dec 17 19:30:30 ns lpd[25070]: front: job could not be printed
(cfA001my.host.name)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(front is the only printer there right now).
TIA.
val.
