Folks, I've got a Toshiba Tecra M1 which is very nice except for this problem with XFree86. I run FreeBSD 4.8. I've been using the VESA driver in XFree86 8-bit deep since June. So when the XFree86 4.4 Release Candidate binaries became available I jumped at the chance to try it. The chip in the M1 is a Trident Cyberblade XP4m32. XFree86 --configure recognizes the chip which is better than before. However, when I launch the server the screen slowly melts (figuratively of course, but that's really what it looks like) and the system is locked up tight. My only recourse is to power-cycle. The log file (/var/log/XFree86.0.log) is empty! I fiddled with a few of the driver options with the same result. Below is the config file. Any help would be appreciated. (There was a similar thread on freebsd-mobile started by TCoulter recently, so I've included them).
