Some Word97 files I can read in WordPerfect and some others I can't, but for
the ones I can't I just use catdoc from the ports collection
(/usr/ports/textproc/catdoc).  Granted I'm not viewing stuff with lots of heavy
tables and formatting, but WordPerfect and catdoc work for me.
