The file you have to change is /etc/ttys The corresponding entry in my /etc/ttys looks like this: ttyv8 "/usr/X11R6/bin/xdm -nodaemon" xterm off secure So you probably just have to replace "/usr/X11R6/bin/xdm -nodaemon" with the path to kdm plus options you want to give.
