This is not longer a correct way to update > FreeBSD sources. freebsd_update(8) is the documented way to update FreeBSD. All other methods have been pretty much deprecated (since the conversion from CVS to SVN). As a side note, I just completed a build of 10.0-ALPHA4 on i386 and amd64 without a hiccup.
