I formatted a zip disk using mformat and noticed that it made partition 1 the active partition and the other disk i formatted using win 98 and zip tools and it made partition 4 active. I have 2 zip drives on this system. If i remember correctly, slice4 is supposed to be the active partition. mutsgo# fdisk da1 ******* Working on device /dev/rda1 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=96 heads=64 sectors/track=32 (2048 blks/cyl) parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=96 heads=64 sectors/track=32 (2048 blks/cyl) Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: sysid 6,(Primary 'big' DOS (> 32MB)) start 0, size 196608 (96 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 0/ sector 1/ head 0; end: cyl 95/ sector 32/ head 63 The data for partition 2 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 3 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 4 is: <UNUSED> mutsgo# mutsgo# fdisk da2 ******* Working on device /dev/rda2 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=96 heads=64 sectors/track=32 (2048 blks/cyl) parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=96 heads=64 sectors/track=32 (2048 blks/cyl) Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 2 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 3 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 4 is: sysid 6,(Primary 'big' DOS (> 32MB)) start 32, size 196576 (95 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 0/ sector 1/ head 1; end: cyl 95/ sector 32/ head 63 mutsgo# ---------------------------------- E-Mail: vagner@vagner.com or kf7nn@kf7nn.com Date: 01-Jul-99 Time: 19:45:32 Software, n.: Formal evening attire for female computer analysts.
