Hi,
I have been attempting to connect to my ISP (worldnet.att.net) using
the information on their website.
I have followed the instructions on how to create the various files and
made sure that my FreeBSD 2.2.7
kernel is compiled with pseudo-device (tun) enabled. After rebooting the
system I logged in as root
and invoked ppp to get the ppp prompt. As at this point nothing seems
to work. When I type in the
first command " pass yoursecretkeyatpppprompt" (without the quotes
though) at the ppp prompt I
get "invalid command" error message. A check of the ppp command options
shows no "pass"
option. Then I tried the second command "dial worldnet" and get put into
the Packet mode. I have
tried every option possible to get a dial tone but no luck. Also, when I
was creating the /etc/ppp/ppp.secret
file, I used my password which I obtained from the account file of the
initial setup as the input for the
second filed <yoursecretkeyatpppprompt> .
I desperately need access to the internet from my home machine so that I
can download some very important
packages. If anyone has successfully connected to worldnet.att.net using
the information from their website
please kindly me know how you accomplished this. Any suggestion/pointer
will be highly appreciated.
TIA
Nesi.
