(was APM and suspend vs. freeze) Cc: freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Sender: owner-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk I believe the standard split is between SUSPEND and HALT. Both are supported by FreeBSD, although you must often preset your system bios for the results you are looking for. I use a Chembook 9750, which also has a "suspend to disk" mode. It attempts to write the contents of RAM to a special partition, actually powers down 100%, then loads the contents of memory again when you restart. My understanding is (and one ill-fated experiment suggests) that this does not work in FreeBSD. I have designated two special function keys to SUSPEND and HALT, which merely effects the state of the CPU, it does not fully power down the unit. Perhaps I'm mistaken. Has anyone successfully enabled a laptop's "suspend to disk" type feature for FreeBSD?
