Hi,
Another idea, which I've used successfully,  is to use and old 386 and run
IPROUTE, which is a DOS program.  Doesn't even need a HD, it'll fit on a
floppy boot disk.  All you have to have in it is the modem & network card,
and if you set the bios, don't even need video or a keyboard.  It isn't as
configurable as natd, though.

You're right, I'd never pay for Wingate for my personal use, and I'd NEVER
buy MS PROXY!!
Pricing is kind of funny: for what you'd pay for a "good" mail server
program under windows, you can buy another PC, put FreeBSD on it & run
Sendmail & QPopper, and still be better off.  Wacky.
