Multia is extremely slow, absolutely true. But very often it is the el-cheapo alpha box that is available to people from junk sales for next to nothing. For example, NoName boards were sold here in .nl for US$ 12 (new in carton). This should kill at least one excuse for not owning an alpha to test commits on... [my pet hidden agenda]. If dropping support becomes an issue I would also throw out DEC3000-series altogether (now someone will go for my throat for sure). The (nasty) alternative is to have multiple bootfloppies for alpha, selectable per machine type. Not nice..
