Did you update only www/libxul? Partial updates are generally not
supported as they break when ports infra (stuff under Mk/*) changes.
Mk/bsd.gecko.mk is a notorious example as it offloads some logic from
gecko@ ports to build the engine. So, check the file's version manually:

  # $FreeBSD: head/Mk/bsd.gecko.mk 376999 2015-01-14 08:06:43Z beat $

Otherwise, tell more about your build environment. Things like FreeBSD
version, architecture, contents of make.conf, printenv(1) output and
consistent revision or snapshot date of the ports tree. I'll try to
reproduce in case the issue is about something else.
