My box won't boot with DMA switched on. Mmm... Is *what* wise? :) This commit only documents the kernel's behavior, which has been the case ever since rev. 1.217 of src/sys/dev/ata/ata_all.c =66rom August 1 2004. You'll have to talk to Soeren about the wisdom of enabling ATA and ATAPI DMA by default - and then, this only happens if the devices actually support it, as described in the documentation.
