Finally! It works fine after I de-mangle the line-wrap that mail introduced. Not only does it build, but it actually runs. I do see a lot of gtk errors: Gtk: GModule (/usr/local/lib/gtk-3.0/3.0.0/immodules/im-ibus.so) initialization check failed: GLib version too old (micro mismatch) Gtk: Loading IM context type 'ibus' failed but these are showing up for a lot of apps since the last update to gtk3. I will post a new diff for the patch to the ticket. Whiie I was at it, I also fixed a missing "USES" then building with X11 and added "NO_CCACHE=yes" to the MAKE_ENV. I'm least certain of the latter, as I don't use ccache.
