I got an EPSON 1640US because it has SCSI and USB. I figured even if the USB was immature I could talk to it over SCSI. It's working OK now on USB, with a small addition to the above-mentioned usbdevs, which I believe have been pushed into -STABLE. Using sane with xsane, nice tools. I did get it to crash my 4.2-STABLE box when trying to push very large images (high resolution, big color depth). I suspect it was a bug in the USB code but am too unfamiliar with USB to dig into it.
