I doubt I can afford a gigabit > switch. Actually, auto-crossover is part of the Gigabit over Copper spec, as I recall. You can interconnect two gigabit devices with a straight through cable or a crossover cable. I haven't actually tested it with NICs but it works as advertised between switches.
