	FWIW, I saw the same message on a couple of my filesystems, but
softupdates did get enabled, and I haven't had any problems with them.
You can see for yourself by typing just, 'mount'. It should look like
this:
/dev/wd0s1f on /usr/src (local, soft-updates, writes: sync 2 async 2365)
