Some BIOS concerns: Some Lenovo/Thinkpad BIOS implementations whitelist wireless cards, only working with "approved" wireless cards. That also makes it more difficult and expensive to replace the included card with an Atheros. Can the NVidia graphics be disabled in the BIOS so the Intel graphics can be used alone? Thinkpad 420/520 did not want to boot from GPT disks. The BIOS was probably at fault, misidentifying GPT partitioning. That may have been fixed by now.
