I don't think it is really feasable for any of the FreeBSD lists, > except if you can set majordomo to allow mail from subscribers > directly through and only moderate mail from unsubscribed people and > even then I think you will have trouble finding people to man the > moderation posts. That will help. but it won't stop people *dedicated* spammers who want to reach the list. On the other hand, it will help to identify the spammers, so they can more easily be blacklisted. What about adding something to the charter of the list that states that "off-topic commercial bulk mail which the list administrator(s) feel is obviously classifiable as spam will be cause for immediate removal from the list, and may result in a request for inclusion in the MAPS RBL. If you are unfamiliar with the MAPS RBL, visit http://maps.vix.com/rbl/. If you ignore this, then you waive your right to whine about it later." Something like that could be added to all the lists here. It would be a quick and easy policy adoption, and would probably take up less of our time than discussing each individual piece of spam that hits one of the lists. -- Paul Chvostek Operations / Development vox: +1 416 598 0000 IT Canada http://www.it.ca/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
